Inactive Termite Evidence
What happens when your Building Inspector finds evidence of termites, but it’s inactive?
The above photo shows termite evidence which was found outside a home recently inspected at a property in Robina on the Gold Coast.
After locating these mud tubes our Building Inspector found the back fence to have extensive termite damage.
Luckily in this situation, the termites appeared to be inactive and after further investigation the Inspector was able to ascertain that the Seller knew about the damage and had employed a pest professional to eradicate the termites a few years previously.
As a result of the Inspectors findings, our report made recommendation to have a chemical termite barrier installed around the perimeter of the home, and the Buyer was able to negotiate with the Seller for a replacement fence to be constructed before settlement. Happy buyers!
