Common Questions about building inspections
Read below the 7 most Common Questions about Building Inspections on the Gold Coast;

* How long does a building inspection take?

The time a building and pest inspection takes depends on the size of the dwelling that is being inspected.
If we use a standard single story brick home on a concrete slab as an example, that would usually take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to complete.
After the inspection is complete, the inspector will then take the time to finish writing the findings into a detailed report and this can be a further 20-40 minutes.

* How long does it take for the building report to be sent to me?

At Gold Coast Building Inspections we have a 24 hour turn around time estimate, however we usually have the report emailed to to you within a few hours on the same day as the inspection.  Our inspectors will then follow up the email with a phone call to discuss the report findings and answer any queries you may have.

* Do building inspectors need to be licensed in QLD?

Yes, building inspectors in Queensland (QLD), Australia are required to be licensed or registered.

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is the regulatory body that oversees the licensing of building inspectors in QLD.

To be a licensed building inspector in QLD, you must meet certain requirements set by the QBCC. These requirements include:

  1. Must be a licensed and registered builder & a qualification in building inspection, such as a Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building Inspection).
  2. Having relevant work experience in the construction industry.
  3. Passing a technical knowledge examination.
  4. Obtaining the required insurance coverage.

This license will allow the builder to conduct inspections on residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with relevant building codes and standards.

It’s important to note that there are additional licensing requirements for building inspectors who specialise in certain types of inspections, such as pest inspections or pool safety inspections. It’s always best to check with the QBCC or a professional association for building inspectors in QLD to ensure that the inspector you choose meets all necessary licensing requirements.

And don’t forget, inspectors need a valid and current licence to be insured!

* Am I able to attend the inspection?

Yes, you are more than welcome join us on site on the day of inspection.

Usually the inspector is not talkative during the inspection as they are busy concentrating.
